Wednesday, 10 March 2010 00:15

Italy: Oil and gas producer Eni has made two new oil discoveries in Angola in waters roughly 350km northwest of Luanda.

The discoveries were made in deepwater in Block 15/06. Eni is the operator of this block with a 35 percent working interest in the block.

The Nzana-1 and Cinguvu-1 wells were drilled with the ‘Scarabeo 7’, a semi-submersible rig belonging to Saipem. The rig is capable of drilling to water depths of 1,490 metres. Nzana-1 and Cingivi-1 were drilled to a depth of nearly 1,400 metres.

Nzana-1 produced oil with a density of 18 API gravity at rates above 1,600 barrels per day. The other well’s production well reached a maximum flow of 6,400 barrels were day with 23 API gravity density.
